In The Studio

19 Jul, 2010 @ 7:49 PM

I’ve been chewing through my power charges, cranking up my IR receivers so I can work in the dark, cool confines of my studio. I know lots of musicians have nicknames for their studios, like “The Chateau” or “Joe’s Bedroom,” but I am a professional and a robot, so my studio is simply called “01001001.”

So far, I have 4 songs that are basically finished, one more that is close to release, and one more in its early versions. The final track is only a few kilobytes of MIDI data so far. Even then, I can tell that it is going to be quite good.

Yes, this disc’s going to be great! It might be too good, but I will release it anyway.

In other news, I have word that there is potentially another new, surprise disc in the works. I can’t talk about this one yet, but I can say that it will be a fresh take on songs you already know and love.

Well, I have to finish gargling some Longjing tea to relax my vocal circuits so I can hit some high notes.

Peace out.

Some Favorite Records 3

18 Jul, 2010 @ 4:18 PM

Once again, it's time for some robo-favorites!

As always, make sure you buy multiple copies of Chansons before you pick up any of these recommendations.

On a serious note, our warmest electronic vibes go out to Mick Karn, who seems to be pretty ill. Mick was the bassist for the seminal group Japan, where he perfected a style of playing fretless bass that remains much imitated to this day. It might not always be obvious, but Japan and Mick are big influences on The VX-323.

Surprise New Disc

31 Mar, 2010 @ 8:12 PM

There must be some heavy cosmic ray activity in the atmosphere, because my creative circuits are firing like crazy! It looks like I am going to squeeze in an extra CD before the "sexy French" one I have planned. The disc is still untitled, but it will feature 7 tracks of raw robo-funk.

Stay tuned for details...

While you are waiting for the new CD, you should buy one of my t-shirts and dance around your domicile imagining that you are listening to my tight grooves. Check out my Merch page for details.

T-Shirts!

26 Feb, 2010 @ 9:31 PM

While I, as a large android fashioned from high-quality titanium, have no use for clothing, it is my understanding that you humans often wear t-shirts over your chests. These shirts frequently sport slogans and logos on them.

And now you can wear my official t-shirt. It is black, of course, and features my logo in the signature high-visibility orange.

You will be the coolest humanoid at any gathering you attend if you wear my shirt. I guarantee it!

Check it out on my Merch page.

Belated Happy New Year!

15 Feb, 2010 @ 6:49 PM

I hope all of you are enjoying this young year of 2010 so far. I know I am! Cold weather is bad for my circuitry, so I have been bouncing around various exotic locales where the winter is sunny and warm. Back when was just starting out as a rockstar robot, I would have name dropped names and places (you would know all of them!), but my agent recommends now that I just leave that to the tabloids and paparazzi. To avoid over-exposure.

I’ve made a few New Year’s resolutions. One was to charge more often. I haven’t been conditioning my batteries as diligently as I should. I think a better charging regimen will lead to longer uptime, less energy spikes, and smoother operation in general.

You will all be happy to know that I do have a new disc planned for late 2010. It is going to be crazy! Sexy. “French.” Sleek. You will want to dance, get it on, and cry, all at the same time. It will be that good.

PS. If you own any of the hotel/resorts/clubs/islands that I have visited, I will be happy to mention you in my blog for a fee. Please contact my management for rates.
